QuinnBet to pay £609,104 following UK gambling compliance failures
QuinnBet (Gibraltar) Limited has agreed to pay a £609,104 settlement to the UK Gambling Commission following an investigation into significant compliance failures. The regulatory review identified serious deficiencies in the operator’s anti-money laundering (AML) protocols and social responsibility measures.
Key findings included inadequate protections for vulnerable players, particularly those aged 18 to 24. Due to the use of manual deposit limit procedures, some young customers were able to exceed established limits. The investigation also highlighted failures in technical controls to detect harmful gambling patterns. In one instance, a customer placed approximately 4,800 bets in a single day and 7,000 the following day without triggering system alerts. Another player wagered over £215,000 in one day through multiple bets exceeding £5,000, an activity that was not detected until the following day.
Furthermore, the Commission noted that QuinnBet failed to conduct sufficient financial checks on customers reaching certain thresholds to assess economic vulnerability. Of the total settlement, £193,118 will be paid as disgorgement to the UK Government’s Consolidated Fund.
