Quinnipiac hockey player Elliott Groenewold named to 2026 Spengler Cup roster

Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey player Elliott Groenewold has been named to the U.S. Collegiate Selects for the 2026 Spengler Cup. The tournament, the oldest club hockey competition in the world, will take place from December 26 to 31 at Eisstadion Davos in Switzerland.

Groenewold, a junior defenseman, enters the selection following a season where he earned the ECAC's Best Defensive Defenseman award and recorded a plus-39 rating. The U.S. Collegiate Selects will compete in Group Cattini, facing teams such as Frölunda HC and host HC Davos.

Additionally, the Quinnipiac program has integrated several new freshmen into its roster, including Swiss-born goaltender Christian Kirsch. Kirsch, a former World Juniors participant and San Jose Sharks draft pick, has recorded a .947 save percentage in his initial collegiate appearances.
