Regional security initiatives focus on rural crime and community prevention

Various regional security and community initiatives are being implemented across Chile and Mexico. In Chile, Carabineros and local municipalities are intensifying efforts to combat rural crime, specifically abigeato (livestock theft), through patrols and community guidance in areas like Linares and Frutillar.

In Puerto Montt, a joint operation between Carabineros and Gendarmería utilized drone technology to increase surveillance around the local penitentiary to prevent the smuggling of prohibited items. Additionally, community-focused programs are addressing domestic violence in Rancagua through training for neighborhood leaders, and emergency response training has been provided to residents in Mejillones.

In Mexico, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor's Office reported that a school prevention program identified 106 cases of potential crimes against students, leading to 14 arrest warrants. Meanwhile, in Antofagasta, educational authorities are monitoring school infrastructure following recent rainfall to ensure safety for students.
