Quintana Roo Connects 4,594 Citizen Cameras to Central Monitoring System

The state of Quintana Roo is expanding its video‑surveillance network by linking 4,594 citizen‑owned cameras to the C5 command center. The initiative, overseen by Secretary of Public Security Julio César Gómez Torres, aims to reach a target of 5,000 connected cameras to improve crime prevention, detection and response.

Gómez Torres emphasized that community participation is essential, noting that each camera added increases the number of observation points available to police and shortens reaction times to emergencies or criminal activity. The program encourages owners of homes, businesses, parking lots, malls, schools and hospitals to connect their cameras to the state system, providing additional evidence for investigations and strengthening overall public safety.
