Quintana Roo government denies alarm in Subteniente López

The Government of Quintana Roo has denied reports of an emergency situation in Subteniente López, despite an increased security operation by federal forces in the community near the Belize border.

Government Secretary Cristina Torres Gómez stated that the reinforcement of security measures is a strategic response recommended by the Peace and Security Construction Table to prevent the area from becoming a high-risk zone. She emphasized that the proximity to the border requires constant coordination between different levels of government to anticipate potential risks.

Regarding reports that a military member assigned to the National Guard was held against their will for over eight hours, Torres Gómez did not confirm the incident, noting that the State Attorney General's Office is responsible for investigating and clarifying the matter.
