Quintana Roo Governor calls for youth input on new rights law

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has called upon the state's youth to participate in the creation of the Law of the Rights of Young People. The initiative aims to ensure that the experiences and ideas of the younger generation are reflected in the state's legal framework and public decision-making processes.

During a state forum held at the Universidad Tecnológica de Cancún, Lezama emphasized that current generations have institutional mechanisms for dialogue that were unavailable to students during the 1968 protests. The consultation is open to individuals aged 12 to 29 and can be completed via the microsite of the Legal Counsel of the Executive Power until October 16.

Alma Alvarado Moo, director of the Instituto Quintanarroense de la Juventud, stated that the proposed law seeks to recognize young people as full subjects of rights. Key topics under consideration include education, training, decent work, first employment, entrepreneurship, freedom from violence, sexual and reproductive health, identity, and disability.
