Quintana Roo implements various urban and environmental cleaning initiatives

Various sanitation and environmental cleanup efforts are underway across Quintana Roo to improve urban and natural environments.

In Cancún, Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, the General Secretary of the Benito Juárez City Council, is leading initiatives to improve urban order and cleanliness. This includes operations to remove abandoned vehicles from various points in the municipality to prevent them from becoming infection foci or public safety risks.

In Chetumal, a volunteer brigade of 612 people participated in a national cleaning campaign at the La Sabana wetland. The group removed 30 tons of urban solid waste, 14 cubic meters of rubble, and 30 used tires. This operation brings the total amount of waste removed from this site this year to over 120 tons.

Additionally, in the community of El Ideal, local families organized a cleaning day at a local clinic. The effort focused on removing weeds and debris that had accumulated following recent rains, a measure intended to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes that transmit dengue.
