Mexico legislators propose educational and utility reforms

Legislators in Mexico are introducing several initiatives aimed at improving social services and education. In Quintana Roo, multiple proposals have been presented to enhance inclusive education. These include a mandate to make Mexican Sign Language (LSM) a compulsory part of the state's educational system and reforms to protect students with autism and other neurodivergent conditions from discrimination and exclusion.

Additionally, a proposal in Baja California seeks to require the State Secretariat of Education to provide semiannual reports on the inclusion of students with disabilities, ensuring better monitoring of accessibility and teacher training.

In Baja California, the state congress has also issued an exhortation to federal authorities, including the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), to facilitate payment agreements for households in high-consumption domestic tariffs to prevent electricity service cuts during extreme heat periods.
