Quintana Roo offers discounted will services through October
In Quintana Roo, Mexico, residents have until October 30 to take advantage of a subsidized program for drafting wills. The campaign, a collaboration between the Government of Quintana Roo and the Council of Notaries, offers the service for 3,000 pesos plus VAT.
Notary Elmer Paredes noted that the program has been active for over 15 years, utilizing subsidies to reduce taxes and notary fees. The initiative aims to help citizens organize the distribution of assets and prevent family disputes. Paredes clarified that creating a will does not transfer property ownership or possession during the testator's lifetime, allowing individuals to continue selling, donating, or mortgaging assets as they see fit.
Beyond real estate and vehicles, the notary highlighted that a person's estate can include digital rights and social media accounts. Additionally, parents can use the document to establish guardianship provisions for their children.
