Quintana Roo transporters weigh protests over Sedena infrastructure projects

Concessioned freight transport operators in Quintana Roo are considering peaceful demonstrations and legal actions following the rejection of their budget proposals by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena). The dispute concerns two major federal infrastructure projects in Cancún: the Cancún Sur Freight Bypass and the Maya Train Multimodal Terminal.

Representatives from the sector have called for a meeting with state and national labor and trade organizations on October 22 at the CROC Dump Truck Drivers Union headquarters in Cancún. The goal of the meeting is to establish a unified stance and define strategies to demand that their economic proposals be considered for these public works.

In addition to the two specific projects, the group aims to create dialogue mechanisms to ensure local transporters have opportunities to secure contracts for other federal, state, and municipal projects within the region.
