Quito authorities shut down nightclub and arrest impostor

The Metropolitan Control Agency (AMC) in Quito has closed a nightclub located under an overpass in the La Y sector, between Avenida América and Avenida 10 de Agosto. The closure was triggered by the establishment operating without a valid LUAE license and lacking required fire department certification. During the operation, officials observed alcohol consumption, individuals in advanced states of intoxication, and the alleged use of controlled substances.

The owner of the establishment faces a potential fine of up to USD 7,230.

In a separate incident in Quito's historic center, a man was detained for impersonating an AMC official. The individual used a fake credential to gain the trust of elderly citizens by offering talks on spinal health and physical well-being, ultimately attempting to sell them massage guns. The suspect was transferred to the Flagrancy Unit to face investigation for the alleged forgery and use of false documents.
