Quito Book Fair attracts 40,000 visitors

The Quito Book Fair has attracted 40,000 visitors since its opening. The event features over 200 activities and includes more than 50 national authors alongside international guests from Spain, Argentina, Peru, and Mexico. Notable international participants include Spanish author Carmen Posadas, Argentine-Spanish author Andrés Neuman, and Mexican writer and filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga.

Organized by the Ecuadorian Chamber of Books, the National Library Eugenio Espejo, and the government, the fair operates with a 450,000 dollar investment. Vice Minister of Culture Pamela Cortés stated the event aims to serve as a space for expressing the country’s cultural diversity.

Among the participants is 18-year-old Carolina Hernández, who is promoting her dystopian science fiction novel, ‘Lo que llevamos en la sangre’. Hernández, part of the ‘Autores de Éxito’ collective, shared that her writing process is inspired by her dreams and aims to encourage other young people to pursue professional literary careers.
