Quito cultural studies propose new marketing and digital archiving strategies

Academic research in Quito is addressing the documentation and marketing of niche cultural sectors. One study focused on the Asteroide B612 bookstore in the Portal Shopping mall, identifying that manga readers associated with otaku culture often view the establishment as merely transactional and engage in sporadic purchasing. The research suggests that implementing relational marketing strategies based on interest communities—emphasizing shared experiences and collection incentives—could improve consumer loyalty.

Separately, a project titled Archivo E-SEIS has been designed to address the fragmentation of cultural records on social media. This interactive editorial platform aims to document, organize, and disseminate independent music and visual arts events in Quito. The initiative seeks to provide a more permanent archive for cultural memory through multimedia formats, including digital magazines and video registries, to supplement the ephemeral nature of social media diffusion.
