Quito man prosecuted for assaulting police sub-lieutenant

In Quito, Ecuador, a man named Sebastián Trujillo is facing legal proceedings after allegedly assaulting a police sub-lieutenant. The incident occurred on October 1 in the south of the city after Trujillo attempted to enter a residence where he did not live.

After being detained and requesting assistance to reach his home in the La Ferroviaria Baja sector, Trujillo reportedly insulted and punched the sub-lieutenant in the nose during transport in a patrol vehicle. Medical examinations determined the officer suffered between four and eight days of incapacity. A judge has ordered a 30-day instruction period, during which Trujillo must appear before the Prosecutor's Office twice weekly and is prohibited from leaving the country.
