Quito municipal agency closes multiple establishments
The Metropolitan Control Agency (AMC) has closed two different establishments in Quito following inspections and citizen reports.
In San Antonio de Pichincha, the AMC shuttered the headquarters of the Association of Employees of the Pichincha Provincial Council. Authorities identified the site was being used as a ‘casa de citas’ (brothel) without the required economic activity license. The inspection also reportedly found the consumption of alcohol and controlled substances. Geovanny Espinosa, president of the association, denied the allegations, stating the facilities were merely lent to ten outsiders for a three-hour birthday celebration.
In the Quitumbe district, the AMC closed a vehicle dealership following reports of potential fraud. The establishment was found to be selling new and used vehicles, including heavy machinery, without municipal permits or fire department authorization. Citizens reported paying thousands of dollars for vehicles and equipment that were never delivered, with some estimates of losses exceeding USD 50,000.
