Quito trolleybus service altered for July 11 athletics race

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Quito’s trolleybus system will operate on a modified schedule to accommodate a nighttime athletics competition that will pass through the historic centre and the northern part of the city. The C1 circuit heading north will terminate at the La Recoleta stop, while vehicles departing from El Labrador will serve only up to Santa Clara before resuming their northbound route. Several trolleybus stops – Cumandá, Santo Domingo, Plaza Marín, Hermano Miguel, Alameda, El Ejido, Banco Central, Plaza del Teatro and Plaza Chica – will be suspended for the duration of the race. The feeder line Tola‑San Roque will run on alternate routes, but the Ecovía line will continue its normal service from 06:00 to 21:00. Municipal authorities will increase control and assistance personnel and urge passengers to plan their trips in advance and follow official communications for updates.
