Quito's Hueca Fest Aims for Guinness World Record in Ecuadorian Cuisine
From August 7‑10, 2026, the fifth edition of Hueca Fest will be held at the Centro de Eventos Bicentenario in Quito, Ecuador. The organizers – the Asociación Gastronómica Huecas del Ecuador, led by president Wilmer Morales – plan to set a Guinness World Record by selling the greatest number of traditional Ecuadorian dishes within a continuous 12‑hour period. The attempt will be monitored by an international audit firm and a technical culinary oversight team to ensure verifiable results.
The festival will feature 150 traditional food stalls (huecas) and 70 entrepreneurial spaces, showcasing regional specialties such as empanadita de morocho, fritada, hornado and pristiños. In addition, Hueca Music will present national acts including Carlos Michelena, Ana María Balarezo, La Vagancia, Cumbancheros and Don Medardo y sus Players. Mayor Pabel Muñoz endorsed the event, emphasizing its role in promoting Ecuadorian culture, tourism and the local economy.
