The Kosovo Assembly is facing a severe institutional crisis as political parties fail to reach an agreement on the constitution of the new legislature. The 30-day constitutional deadline for the assembly's formation expired on August 7, following the June 7 elections.

Opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), have accused the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) of causing an institutional blockade. They have demanded that the constitutive session chair, Avni Dehari, call for the session to continue immediately. In response, LVV maintains that a broader political consensus must be reached before proceeding to avoid unnecessary snap elections.

Tensions within the Assembly have escalated into physical and verbal clashes between deputies. Incidents included pushing and the throwing of papers during heated debates. Additionally, the Assembly issued a statement accusing PDK and AAK deputies of interrupting a visit by members of the diaspora.

The European Union and the U.S. Embassy have called for cooperation and political dialogue to ensure institutional stability and the formation of new government bodies in accordance with the Constitution.
