Quảng Ngãi fishermen see high profits from off-season anchovy catch

Fishermen in Quảng Ngãi are experiencing a highly profitable off-season anchovy harvest. At Tịnh Kỳ fishing port, activity has surged as vessels return from the Lý Sơn sea area with massive catches.

Reports indicate that boats are catching between 2 to 13 tons of anchovies per night, with some exceptional catches reaching up to several dozen tons. The current market price for fresh anchovies at the port ranges from approximately 12,000 to 20,000 VND per kilogram. After accounting for operational costs such as fuel and labor, vessel owners can earn tens of millions of VND per night, while individual crew members earn several million VND.

The high-quality anchovies are being processed into dried fish, which sells for around 200,000 VND per kilogram, to serve both domestic markets and export demands.
