Quảng Ninh approves 1,991 billion VND bridge connecting Cô Tô and Thanh Lân islands

The Cô Tô District People's Committee in Quảng Ninh Province has officially approved an investment plan for a new bridge project connecting Cô Tô Island and Thanh Lân Island. The project is estimated to cost over 1,991 billion VND, funded by a combination of the Quảng Ninh provincial budget and the Cô Tô district budget.

The infrastructure project includes a 2.3 km sea-crossing bridge, with the total length of the bridge and access roads reaching approximately 2.855 km. The construction aims to eliminate the current reliance on water transport, which is often subject to weather-related risks, by providing a direct road connection between the two islands.

In addition to the bridge, the project will develop public spaces at both ends. The Cô Tô side will feature a lighthouse, service facilities, a square, and a coastal walking path, while the Thanh Lân side will include a central square, a flagpole, and various utility structures. Investment preparations are expected to be completed in 2026, with construction scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2029.
