Quảng Ninh authorities prosecute brick factory owner for environmental pollution

Police in Quảng Ninh Province have initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Nguyễn Duy Hưng, owner of a brick manufacturing facility in Yên Tử ward, for causing environmental pollution.

An investigation conducted in July revealed that approximately 163.12 tons of waste, including lime slag, soil, broken bricks, and concrete debris, were dumped directly onto bare ground without proper roofing or containment barriers. The investigation determined that since early March 2026, Hưng had been collecting these materials via truck to use as raw ingredients for manual brick production.

The facility was operating on agricultural land designated for wet rice cultivation, and the site was not an authorized waste collection or disposal location. The case was processed under Clause 1, Article 235 of the Penal Code.
