Quảng Ninh Building Collapse Leads to JOYO Vietnam Director’s Prosecution

Vietnamese authorities have charged Trần Thanh Long, director of JOYO Vietnam, and Nguyễn Văn Long, a company manager, with violating construction regulations after a building collapse in Quảng Ninh province. The collapse occurred during demolition of a load‑bearing wall that had not been properly surveyed or approved, resulting in the death of a resident, N.V.L., and injuries to two workers, as well as extensive property damage.

Investigators say the contractors failed to conduct required safety assessments, did not obtain proper permits, and proceeded with demolition despite warnings from a supervising unit. The prosecution is intended to enforce building safety standards and hold responsible parties accountable under Vietnam’s criminal code.
