Quảng Trị flooding cuts off border villages

Heavy rainfall over a three-day period has caused significant flooding in the border regions of Quảng Trị province, Vietnam. The rising water levels have submerged several bridges and local roads, specifically affecting provincial route 586 and various residential paths in A Dơi commune, Khe Sanh.

Local authorities reported that strong currents from upstream caused water levels to rise sharply around 2:00 AM on August 11. Flooding at key locations, including the Ván Ri overflow bridge and sections of provincial route 586, has temporarily cut off access to several border villages.

In response, local police and commune authorities in A Dơi and Khe Sanh have established barricades and deployed personnel to monitor flooded areas. These measures aim to prevent residents and vehicles from attempting to cross dangerous, high-water sections to ensure public safety.
