Quảng Trị prepares for 100th anniversary of Khe Sanh coffee

Authorities in Quảng Trị province are preparing for a series of events in October 2026 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Khe Sanh coffee. The celebration, themed ‘Khe Sanh Coffee - The Flavor of Peace’, will include an opening ceremony on October 24, an exhibition titled ‘100 Years of Khe Sanh Coffee - From History to Integration’, and workshops focused on specialty coffee and agroforestry development.

Parallel to these historical commemorations, the region is shifting toward sustainable and green production models to enhance the brand's value. Utilizing geographical indications and 5-star OCOP standards, farmers are increasingly adopting agroforestry techniques. In Hướng Phùng commune, for example, coffee is being intercropped with fruit trees and native species to improve soil moisture, protect biodiversity, and mitigate climate change impacts. Since 2023, a project focused on ecological coffee production has seen the planting of approximately 50,000 native and fruit trees across 620 hectares.
