Sázava town to spend 70 million CZK revamping area around cultural house

The municipal council of Sázava announced a major redevelopment of the district surrounding the local cultural house. The plan, which includes renovating the riverbank and creating a new summer‑stage area, is budgeted at more than 70 million Czech crowns.

The project is part of a broader revitalisation of the town centre and follows earlier upgrades to nearby streets and the fortress area. A design by the Prague‑based firm M&P Architects, selected through a 2023 competition, will be implemented. Construction was slated to begin in 2026, but officials now anticipate a start no earlier than 2028. Mayor Martin Mrkos highlighted the need for improved accessibility, including new stairs and a ramp, and noted that input from residents, property owners and local organisations helped shape the final plan.
