R Sreelekha rules out resigning from BJP and councillor post
Former Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) and current BJP leader R Sreelekha has clarified that she will not resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party or her position as a Thiruvananthapuram councillor.
Sreelekha explained that she had previously considered resigning due to significant delays in ward development works and a lack of cooperation from officials. She cited several unresolved civic issues in her ward, including damaged roads, non-functional street lights, and the absence of essential facilities like an Anganwadi and a primary health centre. She also noted inadequate resources at her councillor's office.
Comparing her current role to her former position, Sreelekha remarked that a DGP would struggle if asked to perform the duties of a police constable. She stated that she decided to remain in office following support from senior party leaders. She further dismissed media reports suggesting she had left the party, describing herself as a lifelong supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
