Rača border crossing reopened after truck fire caused traffic delays

The Rača border crossing was temporarily closed following a fire involving a truck transporting aluminum ladders from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Romania. The incident caused a complete suspension of traffic and the formation of long queues, particularly for freight vehicles.

Authorities reported that the closure was necessary to clean up debris and spilled oil and fuel resulting from the fire. The Auto-moto Association of Republika Srpska and the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina managed the response. While the crossing has since reopened, the incident caused several hours of delays.

Many transport operators chose to wait at the Rača crossing rather than divert to alternative routes like Pavlovića Most or Šepak, citing difficulties with customs procedures at those locations. Nikola Grbić of the Association of Carriers for Internal and External Transport of Republika Srpska noted that while the delay caused unavoidable costs, the situation has been normalized.
