Rabat aims to become Africa’s leading gaming hub

Morocco is accelerating its entry into the global video‑game market and seeks to position Rabat as the continent’s primary gaming hub. The government’s strategy, highlighted in a recent RTL report, targets training 10,000 young Moroccans for video‑game professions by 2030 and attracting international gaming companies. Rabat hosts the Morocco Gaming Expo, the largest video‑game exhibition in Africa, to showcase the sector’s growth.

In 2025 the domestic gaming industry generated roughly €195 million in revenue from an estimated 15 million players. The kingdom aims to capture 1 % of worldwide gaming revenues – about €260 billion – translating to €2.6 billion by 2030. Initiatives include professional and diploma‑level training, support for local studios, and incentives for foreign investors to develop a competitive ecosystem of development, design, animation, e‑sports and content production.
