Rabat hosts ASONAM 2026 conference on AI and social network analysis

The 18th International Conference on Advances in Social Network Analysis and Mining (ASONAM) is being held in Rabat, Morocco, at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Rabat (ENSMR) from August 25 to 27. This marks the first time the conference, which was established in Athens in 2009, is being hosted on the African continent.

The event brings together academics, researchers, and experts to discuss developments in artificial intelligence, social network analysis, data science, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. Omar Assouaddi, Director General of ENSMR, noted that hosting the conference reflects the growing recognition of Morocco and Africa in scientific research and digital innovation.

Discussions also highlighted the intersection of digital transformation and the energy transition. Ahmed Bouzid from the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development emphasized how AI and advanced data analysis can optimize electrical grid management and support the integration of renewable energies, while stressing the importance of digital sovereignty and privacy protection.
