Rabat prosecutor orders detention of four following unauthorized protest
The King's Prosecutor at the Rabat Primary Court has ordered the detention of four individuals following an unauthorized protest held on October 12, 2026. The demonstration was organized by families of detainees from the Gdeim Izik camp and took place in front of the headquarters of the General Delegation for Prison Administration in Rabat.
According to the public prosecution, the gathering involved approximately 40 people, including 14 women. Authorities reported that the protesters caused chaos in the streets and obstructed public services. Despite calls from security forces to disperse, the crowd allegedly resisted violently, resulting in injuries to three law enforcement officers who required hospital treatment.
Following a judicial investigation that led to the initial detention of seven suspects, four were formally prosecuted for charges including disobedience, participating in an unauthorized gathering, insulting public officials, and committing violence against them. The prosecution stated that all detainees were provided with legal guarantees, including the right to defense.
