Rabat protesters demand end to Israel-Morocco normalization

Protesters gathered in Rabat, Morocco, in front of the Parliament building to demonstrate in solidarity with the Palestinian people and mark the third anniversary of the war in Gaza.

Organized by groups including the Moroccan Front to Support Palestine and Oppose Normalization and the Working Group for Palestine, the demonstrators called for the termination of diplomatic ties with Israel. The protests follow recent announcements regarding the elevation of diplomatic representation between Morocco and Israel from liaison offices to full embassies.

Participants carried banners demanding an end to normalization and expressed support for Palestinian resistance. The demonstrations occur within the context of the 2020 tripartite agreement involving Morocco, Israel, and the United States, which linked normalization to U.S. recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.
