Hyundai to supply 15 electric buses to Marrakech

Hyundai Motor Company, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will supply 15 Elec City electric buses to Marrakech, Morocco. This initiative is part of a $13 million Official Development Assistance (ODA) program aimed at establishing an eco-friendly public transport system in the city between 2023 and 2026.

The buses, manufactured at Hyundai’s Jeonju plant in South Korea, are scheduled to arrive in Morocco by the first quarter of 2027. They will serve major tourist areas within Marrakech to help reduce urban air pollution and carbon emissions, supporting Morocco’s national goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Beyond the vehicles, the project includes the installation of rapid charging stations, transport management systems, and a control center. KOICA will also provide technical assistance and training for Moroccan teams regarding the operation and maintenance of the new fleet.
