Rabat to host Remork & Karkaba musical fusion concert

The Villa des Arts in Rabat will host a free concert by Remork & Karkaba on September 25, 2026. The performance features a musical fusion of Belgian brass band melodies and traditional Moroccan Gnawa percussion.

The collaboration brings together the Brussels-based brass band Remork and Karkaba, a Gnawa music training program led by Driss Filali and Mohamed Saïd Akasri. This partnership has evolved over fifteen years, blending jazz-infused brass riffs with ancestral rhythms such as Gnawa, raï, and chaâbi.

Composer Luc Mishalle has developed a unique musical language for the ensemble, incorporating Gnawa instruments like the qraqeb and various drums to create a festive, street-style sound. The event is presented in collaboration with MetX.
