Rabat’s Diamond League meeting sees Prince Moulay El Hassan preside and seven meeting records set
On 1 June 2026, His Royal Highness Prince Heir Moulay El Hassan chaired the 17th Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, the third stop of the Diamond League and a flagship event under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, underscoring Morocco’s focus on sport as a tool for development and youth inclusion.
The competition produced seven meeting records, among them Kenny Bednarek’s 19.69 seconds in the men’s 200 m, Audrey Werro’s 1:56.56 in the women’s 800 m, Max Burgin’s 1:42.98 victory in the men’s 800 m, and Soufiane El Bakkali’s world‑leading time in the 3000 m steeplechase, marking his fifth consecutive win in Rabat. The event attracted top global athletes and was broadcast live on multiple international channels.
