Rabbi Moshe Tzadka Leads Tisha B'Av Pilgrimage in Safed and Meron

Each year on the eve of Tisha B'Av, Rabbi Moshe Tzadka, head of a Jerusalem yeshiva, leads a group of students and followers on a religious tour of northern Israel. The itinerary this year included Safed, where the rabbi addressed local children who had completed a study of the Zohar, distributed sweets, and emphasized the value of early Torah education. He then spoke at a public gathering in Safed opposing a proposed draft that would affect Torah scholars, warning of spiritual dangers posed by modern technology.

The delegation continued to Meron, where they held an all‑night study session of Tisha B'Av prayers, recited the special “Ben Ish Chai” prayer, and offered additional prayers at the graves of revered sages. The program concluded with a festive breakfast and a concluding ceremony in Safed.

The event, organized by the yeshiva and attended by local religious leaders such as Rabbi Israel Levi, combined prayer, Torah study, community outreach, and a rally against the draft, reflecting the community’s spiritual and social concerns during the solemn holiday.
