Rabbi Shimon Gla'i Inspires Thousands at Bnei Brak Asherichim Ceremony
On Saturday night in Bnei Brak, Israel, a large "Asherichim" ceremony was held with thousands of yeshiva students in attendance. During his address, Rabbi Shimon Gla'i recounted a personal ordeal from about 25 years ago when a serious illness left him bedridden. He said, "When I lay like a stone with no turning… I told the physiotherapist, 'You'll see me dance.'"
After finishing his story, the rabbi rose from his seat, took the hands of the young men, and began dancing with them, prompting a wave of singing and excitement. He urged the participants to view the gathering as a "sanctification of the Name" and encouraged them to take pride in their Torah studies amid external challenges. The event was part of the "Moshav Ve'Holech" program and was attended by Rabbi Menachem Shapira, the mayor of Bnei Brak, and Rabbi Chanoch Zeybert, among others.
