Rabbitats Rescue Society rescues baby bunnies from euthanasia

The Rabbitats Rescue Society has successfully rescued a group of baby bunnies from euthanasia on Vancouver Island. The rescue operation, which began with the intention of taking in a single rabbit named Oatmeal, expanded when a veterinary clinic in Parksville reported that six three-week-old bunnies had been dropped off for euthanasia.

According to Sorelle Saidman, executive director and founder of Rabbitats, the young rabbits had reportedly ended up with an individual struggling with drug addiction who could no longer care for them. To ensure their survival, the rescue group coordinated a multi-organizational effort involving a veterinary service, volunteers, and Harbour Air, which provided a sea plane to airlift the animals to the Lower Mainland free of charge.

The six baby bunnies are currently being bottle-fed by a specialized foster volunteer in Surrey to ensure their continued health and development.
