Race of Champions to debut in Wellington, New Zealand in 2027

The Race of Champions (ROC) will be held for the first time in New Zealand on January 9 and 10, 2027. The event is scheduled to take place at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, where the natural grass field will be converted into a temporary asphalt track.

Four drivers have been confirmed for the event: four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, Cadillac F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, Supercars champion Chaz Mostert, and rally star Hayden Paddon. Vettel noted that his decision to participate was influenced by the beauty of New Zealand during a previous trip.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is supporting the event through its ‘Events Attraction Package’ to boost both domestic and international tourism.
