RACE reports summer roadside breakdown trends in Spain

The Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE) has released its Breakdown Barometer, detailing roadside assistance data from July and August. Engine failures remain the primary cause of assistance, accounting for 31.5% of incidents, a decrease from 34.2% in the previous year.

Tyre-related issues saw an increase, rising from 21.6% to 24.8% of total incidents. Battery failures accounted for 20.7%, down from 23.4% in 2025. Other miscellaneous incidents rose to 16.3%, while traffic accidents saw a slight decline to 4.5%. Diesel pump and injection issues represented the smallest share at 2.1%.
