Rach Rang Suspension Bridge repairs scheduled for completion in August
Authorities in Ca Mau province are overseeing urgent repairs to the Rach Rang Suspension Bridge, which spans the Ong Doc River in Tran Van Thoi commune. The bridge, which has been in operation since 2010, has shown significant signs of degradation, including cracks in the pier bodies, peeling concrete, and exposed steel frames.
The Ca Mau Department of Construction has directed the bridge's manager and operator, Liem Duyen Hai Co., Ltd., to complete all necessary reinforcements and repairs by the end of August 2026. Following the repairs, the operator must conduct load testing to re-evaluate the structure's load-bearing capacity before resuming full operations.
Local residents expressed concerns regarding the safety of the bridge, noting that it serves as a vital artery for both motorcycles and cars. The Tran Van Thoi Commune People's Committee has been tasked with closely monitoring the repair process to ensure technical standards and public safety are maintained.
