Rachael Gunn addresses viral backlash from Olympic breakdancing performance
Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, known as Raygun, has addressed the intense backlash following her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Netflix documentary ‘Untold: Raygun Breaking Badly’. Gunn expressed that the viral criticism left her feeling “shame and embarrassment” and described the experience as leaving her feeling “crumbled.”
Gunn noted that the online reaction, particularly from other women, took a significant toll on her mental health, stating she felt she was “falling into a dark pit.” The documentary also covers her training with her husband and coach, Samuel Free, and addresses rumors regarding Free’s alleged involvement with the Olympic selection committee, which he has denied.
In November 2024, Gunn announced her retirement from competitive breakdancing, though she maintained her passion for the sport.
