Rachael Gunn addresses viral Paris Olympics breakdancing mockery

Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, known as Raygun, is addressing the global mockery she faced following her performance at the Paris Olympics. Two years after her routine went viral for its unconventional style, Gunn stated that she has used therapy to achieve “radical acceptance” of the experience.

Gunn’s performance in Paris, which included moves like a “sprinkler dance” and a “kangaroo hop,” resulted in three 18-0 losses. The subsequent internet backlash and viral fame led to widespread parodies and even conspiracy theories regarding her qualification.

A new Netflix documentary, “Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly,” is scheduled to debut on September 1. The film explores her journey into breakdancing, her path to the Olympics, and the psychological toll of becoming a global meme.
