Rachael Okonkwo provides medical aid and food to thousands in Enugu
Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo, known as ‘Nkoli Nwa Nsukka’, distributed food items to 500 widows and provided free medical care to over 5,000 patients in Nsukka, Enugu State. The initiative was part of the eighth edition of her annual ‘Nkoli Mega Carnival Season’ held at the Nsukka Central Stadium.
Okonkwo stated that the program was inspired by her own childhood experiences with poverty and the loss of her father at age 13. After a suspension in 2023 due to rising costs, the initiative was revived for its 2026 edition. This year marked the first time the carnival included a medical outreach.
In partnership with the US-based Franklin Junior Foundation, the outreach provided medications, wheelchairs, and walking aids to beneficiaries. David Ofogba, Director of Programmes at the foundation, confirmed that more than 5,000 patients have been treated since the commencement of the outreach.
