Rachel Gwilliam dies after cliff fall at Cornwall's Pentreath Beach
Rachel Anne Gwilliam, a 41‑year‑old accountant who lived in West Sussex, fell from the cliffs at Pentreath Beach on the Lizard Peninsula on 20 July. She was airlifted by two air ambulances and a land ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where she died on 21 July from a traumatic brain injury.
Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney opened an inquest after the incident. Emergency services that responded included the South Western Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard teams from Mullion and Porthoustock, an RNLI lifeboat from Lizard and a search‑and‑rescue helicopter from Newquay. The inquest has been adjourned pending a full hearing.
