Rachin Ravindra in doubt for India T20I series after shoulder injury
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is in doubt for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India after dislocating his right shoulder. The injury occurred on September 16 during a promotional shoot with Sky in Auckland, where Ravindra landed awkwardly on a safety mat while attempting a diving catch.
Medical specialists assessed the injury on September 18 and found no major structural damage. However, his availability for the series, which begins on October 22, will depend on his progress during the initial weeks of rehabilitation.
New Zealand Performance Manager Mike Sandle described the incident as a ‘freak accident’ and noted that the team will review its processes regarding commercial shoots. Head coach Rob Walter emphasized a cautious approach to recovery, citing a heavy Test cricket schedule over the next six months. The squad for the T20I series is expected to be announced next week.
