Racing Club fines Alfonso Espino for insulting fans

Racing Club's board of directors has issued a financial fine to Uruguayan left-back Alfonso Espino following an altercation with supporters after the 'Clásico de Avellaneda'. The incident occurred after a 1-1 draw against Independiente at the Presidente Perón stadium.

During his walk toward the locker room, Espino reacted to derogatory comments regarding his physical condition from a fan. The defender lifted his shirt to show his abdomen and directed insults toward the supporter. Following the viral spread of the footage, the club decided on an economic sanction rather than a sporting suspension.

Espino issued a public apology on social media, stating he acted out of frustration and admitted to reacting poorly. He noted that while he considers himself a respectful person, he was provoked by personal insults regarding his fitness.
