Racing Club Leiderdorp receives Royal Medal of Honor

Racing Club Leiderdorp (RCL) has been awarded the Royal Medal of Honor in recognition of its centenary. On August 24, Mayor Tjarda Struik presented the distinction on behalf of His Majesty the King, accompanied by a one-time gift of 1,000 euros.

Founded on August 24, 1926, the football club has grown to approximately 1,200 members over the past century. The award recognizes the club's long-standing significance, continuity, and its role as a vital community hub in Leiderdorp. Mayor Struik noted that the honor belongs to the generations of members, volunteers, trainers, and supporters who have contributed to the organization.

The club is celebrating its hundredth anniversary throughout the year. Recent festivities included a dragon boat race on August 23, with a centennial celebration and special jubilee match scheduled for August 29.
