RAD removes 870 tons of improperly disposed waste in Sarajevo
In Sarajevo, the utility company RAD reported clearing 870 tons of improperly disposed waste across 411 locations between July 1 and August 13. During the Sarajevo Film Festival, specific waste management efforts were implemented in collaboration with EKO-PAK, including the placement of specialized containers for separate waste collection at major event sites and 15 catering facilities.
Data from a four-day period during the festival showed the collection of approximately 20 tons of glass packaging, up to five tons of paper and cardboard, and between six to seven tons of mixed waste. Officials noted that illegal dumping and the overturning of containers remain persistent issues in urban areas of Sarajevo, suggesting that technological solutions like video surveillance could assist in identifying those responsible.
