Irina Mudra, the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has been placed in 60-day pretrial detention by the High Anti-Corruption Court in Kyiv. Mudra was dismissed from her position by President Volodymyr Zelensky on August 19 following the launch of a major corruption investigation known as Operation “Forrest Gump.”

The investigation, led by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), targets a criminal group suspected of illegalizing approximately 150 million hryvnias, falsifying state registers, and attempting to seize businesses and real estate. Mudra faces charges including money laundering.

The court set bail at 20 million hryvnias (approximately 447,000 USD), significantly lower than the 150 million hryvnias requested by prosecutors. If bail is paid, Mudra must adhere to strict conditions, including wearing an electronic bracelet, remaining within the Kyiv region, and avoiding contact with witnesses or other suspects. Mudra has expressed her intention to secure the bail using personal funds and assistance from acquaintances, while her legal team is considering an appeal.
