Radamés Gnattali honored on Rádio MEC's Sala de Concerto broadcast
Rádio MEC aired a special edition of its Sala de Concerto program on Friday, 7 August at 17:00, devoted entirely to the works of Brazilian composer, arranger and pianist Radamés Gnattali. The concert featured performances by the Abstrai Ensemble and the Conjunto de Sax da UFRJ, both under the direction of saxophonist and professor Pedro Bittencourt. Pieces presented included “Brasiliana n.º 7”, “Bate Papo”, “Valsa Triste” and “Remexendo”, with contributions from musicians such as Marina Spoladore (piano), Pauxy Gentil‑Nunes (flute), Ariane Petri (bassoon) and a full saxophone ensemble.
The broadcast reinforces Rádio MEC’s public‑service mission to promote Brazil’s classical and contemporary music heritage. Sala de Concerto, on air since 2000 and dedicated to live performances of Brazilian and international repertoire, occupies a central place in the station’s schedule, which devotes about 80 % of its programming to classical music.
